Google’s doing a bit of testing on a new Google.com homepage that it’s possible to access and take a poke around. If you’re feeling adventurous, then head over to Google.com (not .co.uk or any other regional site), log out of your Google account if you have one and paste the following into the address bar:

javascript:void(document.cookie=”PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com”);

If all goes well, you can then reload the page and you’ll get an image a bit like the one at the top of the page. It has a new logo, with much less shadowing, as well as the option to skip the results page if it includes a result that the vast majority of people click on.

There’s also a permanent sidebar on the left that allows you to pick what kind of content you’re searching for, some related searches, and other search options to help narrow down exactly what it is you’re looking for.
